📡 TransCore E4 — Web Programmer

Programs an Encompass 4 reader straight from the browser over USB-serial. No install — Chrome or Edge only. RS-232 model · 9600 8-N-1.
Disconnected
Click Connect, pick the reader's USB-serial / FTDI port. No port listed? Install the FTDI VCP driver. No data after connecting? Swap the Red ↔ Black leads and try the banner test.

Step 1 — Verify the link

Test link just asks the reader its model (#505) and waits for a reply — instant confirmation that both wires are good, no power-cycle. Use Banner test only if Test link gets nothing and you want to isolate the TX vs RX direction.

Step 2 — Set it up, then Send

Wiegand format
RF power / read range
TX power — main range knob100% · 0 dB cut · #64400
100% = full power / max range (slide left to weaken). Reads from too far? Drop ~15–25% and re-test. Each 5% = 1 dB attenuation on #644.
Advanced — receiver acceptance ranges
ATA receive range31 · #6431F
SeGo/eGo receive range31 · #6451F
31 = max acceptance. Trim these after setting TX power.
Sends only the power/range, saves to NVM, and drops the reader back to data mode — so you can present a tag and test right away. Repeat as you dial it in. Wiegand and format are left untouched.
“Send & save” writes all of the above (Wiegand + format + RF + power) in one shot and saves. To dial in just the power, use Apply power & save in the box above instead.
